Do we need to pay to use OnPoint?

No – OnPoint is free for physicians and their staff members to use and there are no hidden fees.

Do patients need to pay to use OnPoint?

No – Patients experience no additional fees for using OnPoint and their copays are the same as they would be at any other pharmacy.

How do we begin using OnPoint?

To get started, simply fill your first prescription through your EHR.

What paperwork is required to use OnPoint? Do we need to sign any contracts?

There is no paperwork or contract required to use OnPoint.

How will our prescribing workflows change by using OnPoint?

You will fill prescriptions the same way you typically do for other pharmacies. Simply find OnPoint Pharmacy in your EHR and send us your prescription.

Are there any insurance types that you don’t accept?

No – We accept all major insurance types and work to ensure all patients can access their medications at the lowest costs.

Do you accept prescriptions for compounded medications and specialty medications?

Yes – We offer both compounding services and specialty medications.

How do you help identify lower-cost medication alternatives?

We provide full transparency regarding medication costs, working with you to find appropriate lower-cost alternatives when available. We make sure patients can maximize their savings by applying coupons, copay cards, and assistance programs.

We also partner with manufacturers to secure discounts on popular brand-name medications.

How do you streamline the prior authorization process?

We leverage deep knowledge of the unique insurance coverage challenges across various medications and insurance types, and we apply that knowledge to proactively identify potential prior-auth issues and resolve them. We can also work with you to develop custom protocols for conditions/medications (based on your approval) so that we can streamline the prior-auth process. That way, we can minimize your involvement, while ensuring compliance, when questions do arise.

How does OnPoint differ from the hub pharmacies out there?

We offer comprehensive services for all of your prescriptions — including branded and generics. While hub pharmacies only fill for the branded pharmaceutical companies with which they partner, we have no such restrictions. We are a “one-stop shop” for all of your medication needs, and you’ll save significant time and resources because you will no longer need to order medications through multiple pharmacies. With multiple OnPoint pharmacies located throughout your region, we also have a more personalized touch that elevates the experience for patients, clinicians, and staff members.

How should we introduce our staff to OnPoint?

Staff members love OnPoint because we save them time and headaches. Explain the benefits OnPoint will provide your practice (including streamlined prior authorizations, fewer callbacks, and proactive resolution of coverage and copay issues). Also, explain the benefits it will provide your patients (including proactive identification of cost-savings opportunities, support navigating coverage and copay challenges, and free delivery).

Then, provide your staff members with clear guidance regarding how to introduce OnPoint to patients

How should we introduce patients to OnPoint?

Introducing patients to OnPoint is easy. Here are some key steps we recommend:

  • Post a flyer in your reception area noting that OnPoint is your “preferred pharmacy”.
  • Discuss OnPoint — and the benefits it provides to patients — when asking where they would like you to send their prescriptions. The benefits include:
    • Proactive identification of cost-savings opportunities
    • Support navigating coverage/copay challenges
    • In-store pick-up and free delivery
  • Check back in with patients at their next visit to see if they enjoyed the OnPoint experience.

Is it legal to recommend a specific pharmacy to patients? Are there any Stark Law or Anti-Kickback Statute concerns?

Yes -It is completely legal to recommend a specific pharmacy to patients and there are no conflicts of interest. Stark Law restricts physicians from referring patients to pharmacies with which they have a financial interest, which is not the case with OnPoint. Similarly, the Anti-Kickback Statute prohibits the exchange of anything of value to induce or reward referrals for services — which again, is not the case with OnPoint pharmacy.

Where are your pharmacies located? Do you offer free delivery?

Currently, we have 13 locations throughout Long Island, Queens, and Westchester. We also offer free delivery throughout the area. Click here for a comprehensive view of all of our locations.

Do your pharmacists speak multiple languages?

Yes, we speak multiple languages.
